 OVERVIEW

Job Description:

Apply advanced analytics and machine learning to big energy-related datasets to provide insights for studies and reports.

To develop projects that enable a data driven company, with the mission to manage the governance of data in, develop enterprise reference architectures capable to support the offer of services focused on Analytics, Machine Learning, Data Catalogue for THE COMPANY.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES 

• Collect and analyse data from the THE COMPANY generation assets to issue executive and technical reports containing the Operation & Maintenance technical indicators.
• Development of projects aimed at the continuous improvement of technical indicators (e.g., availability) in coordination with the person responsible for technical services and the Global Centre’s of Competence. Management may require the hiring of specialized professional services.
• Discuss, analyse, and reconcile the results obtained from the indicator calculation processes with the supervisors of the generation centres.
• Implementation and monitoring of action plans aimed at solving technical problems and relevant processes of the THE COMPANY generation assets in coordination with the person responsible for technical services, the competence centres and on-site supervision.
• Monitoring of the signals necessary to measure the operational efficiency of the generating units of Solar and Wind technologies.
• Use of the software tools and applications implemented by EGP for the management, control and reporting of performance indicators and unavailability events (e.g., SAS / Jira/ PI etc.).
• Drafting of local Operation & Maintenance instructions / manuals related to indicator monitoring and reporting processes.
• Provide analytical reports on daily, weekly, and monthly basis with comments explaining main performance drivers and mitigating actions.
• Assist with generation of all external and internal LCR reports, as per organisational requirements.
• Collaborate and assist Operational Performance & Improvement to calculate operational KPIs.
• Notify promptly the plant staff and reference O&M specialists of data irregularities.
• Communicate any issues affecting Control Room systems and Operational data quality to the Head of the LCR, its Operators and the supervisor.
• Management of data quality and availability of the generating plants on PI system and other tools.

 FUNCTIONAL LOCATIONREQUIREMENTS 

• A graduate with an Engineering degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Electrical or equivalent with at least 3-5 years of experience in a similar line of work in the Energy Sector.
• Knowledge of PI system and Power BI will be highly advantageous.
• The head office for this position will be South Africa.
• Experience in the operation of HV/MV equipment & systems as well as solar - Wind components and systems will be advantageous.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Country Languages e.g. Sesotho , Xhosa , isiZulu etc
