Logistics, Warehousing & SAP Specialist – 2 Months

We are seeking a Logistics, Warehousing & SAP Specialist for a 2-month contract based in Sandton. The Logistics & Warehousing Specialist will be part of the Operations and Maintenance department and will be responsible for overseeing the life cycle of renewable energy technology products, particularly solar and wind technologies.

ESSENTIAL: Supplier knowledge and affiliation with the electrical and renewable energy products and equipment industry are vital for soliciting service delivery, technical support, and after-sales service.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support the uptime of multiple power generating plants by enhancing plant maintenance performance and production on a day-to-day basis.
  • Manage the purchasing, preparation, shipping, and receiving of materials, spare parts, and services.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify sources for materials, spare parts, and services.
  • Identify components for direct purchase from manufacturers and general providers.
  • Define and establish purchasing strategies in accordance with the formal SAP process.
  • Understand different strategies for importing and exporting goods.
  • Develop procedures for purchasing goods and services in local and international markets.
  • Create strategies to deliver materials and spare parts to plants, ensuring cost control and optimisation, including combining orders and transportation.
  • Define procedures for component repairs and identify appropriate workshops at local and international levels.
  • Track strategic spares, purchases, spares holding, stock items, delivery, and consumption in SAP.
  • Support office and plant personnel in using SAP for purchasing, receiving, consuming, and repairing transactions, as well as inventory checks.
  • Maintain global and plant-level inventories to ensure proper rotation of materials and spare parts.
  • Establish and maintain maximum and minimum inventory levels for consumables and enhance automatic control systems.
  • Assist with logistics planning tasks and warehousing activities.
  • Monitor shipments across various channels and strategies.
  • Continuously analyse deliveries, pick-ups, transportation, storage, and consumption to improve processes for plant benefit.
  • Support the maintenance of logistics policies, procedures, and scheduling planning.
  • Optimise the purchasing process, including paperwork preparation, delivery times, movements to plants, and reception.
  • Define and establish storage strategies and requirements at country, plant, and area levels.
  • Maintain an organised warehouse environment.
  • Ensure SAP training programmes are implemented.
  • Prepare monthly reports to track inventories, plant consumptions, material and spare part rotations, and evaluate KPIs to assess the effectiveness of the logistics strategy and SAP usage.
  • Liaise with competence centres to update local procedures according to new policies.
  • Continuously analyse logistics efforts in purchasing, transportation, and storage, and identify improvements in delivery time, purchasing quality, and material cost reduction.
  • Ensure compliance with company and plant budgets and follow proper purchasing processes concerning capex, opex, MG, WBS, WO, Material Codes, and others, supporting the O&M group in their processes.

Desired Experience & Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Warehousing, Electrical or Industrial Engineering, or a related technical-scientific field accredited by a recognised South African Council or Institute.
  • Proficiency in SAP, with at least 4 years of experience working with this system.
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in the power utility sector, preferably in renewable energy logistics and warehousing or a similar role.
  • Experience in managing warehouses, including purchasing, inventory management, reporting, barcoding, and contract management.
  • Excellent knowledge of national and international contracts in the energy sector, particularly PPA contracts under the REIPPP programme.
  • Detailed understanding of the REIPPP programme in South Africa.
  • Technical knowledge of power plants, particularly solar and wind renewable plants, is preferable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and the local language.

Package & Remuneration:

  • Salary: R52,481.93 per month
  • Contract: 2 months (extension not confirmed at this stage)
