Linux Security Admin

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Linux Administrator with a background in cybersecurity and in-depth expertise in F5 technologies. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing our Linux-based infrastructure, implementing robust security practices, and managing F5 solutions to optimize application delivery and security.

Key Responsibilities

Linux Administration:

  • Oversee the configuration, management, and troubleshooting of Linux-based systems (e.g., RHEL, Oracle Linux).
  • Automate tasks using scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, Perl).
  • Monitor system performance, uptime, and capacity planning to ensure availability and scalability.

Security Management:

  • Develop and enforce security policies and practices, including patch management and vulnerability assessments.
  • Implement and manage security controls, such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and SELinux.
  • Conduct regular audits, risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and mitigate risks.
  • Respond to and investigate security incidents, ensuring timely remediation and documentation.

F5 Technologies:

  • Design, configure, and manage F5 solutions, including BIG-IP Local Traffic Manager (LTM), Application Security Manager (ASM), and Advanced WAF.
  • Optimize load balancing and application delivery to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot SSL/TLS certificates and encryption policies.
  • Implement and manage web application firewall (WAF) policies for enhanced security.

Collaboration & Support:

  • Work closely with DevOps, network, and security teams to ensure seamless integration and security of applications and infrastructure.
  • Provide mentorship to junior team members and serve as a technical point of escalation.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to support critical systems and services.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a Linux Administrator, with a focus on enterprise environments.
  • Expertise in managing F5 technologies, including BIG-IP LTM, ASM, and WAF.
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001), and best practices.
  • Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS).
  • Experience with automation tools such as Ansible.
  • Strong scripting skills (e.g., Bash, Python).

Salary: R100K

Location: Johannesburg

Duration: 6 Months
